* OPERATION EARTH SHELL* {{~^*DECLASSIFIED*^~}}
Operation earth shell has been listed in "The Cobalt book of war" as the longest and bloodiest campaign of the last thousand years. The operation was mounted in response to intelligence from front line troops that no advance had been made against the Awdech forces, in two and a half years. Casualty rates were at critical levels. It was decided that, there had to be a “war ending operation” mounted. The decision was made to insert SGT Trafalgar and his team of Special Forces operatives, who were, at that time, well above anyone else and any other military force and within their parent regiment 22nd SRU (Special recon unit), they were the “elite”. The operation was deemed deniable and classed as S-1 (no return) and all men signed a life waiver before training started. The operation details are still classified but details released to the press were as follows,
"Today 1/3/86 Special Forces were sent in to the Opius central base, strong hold and intelligence centre for the Awdech confederacy. Their mission is to destroy the central computer system rendering the Awdech lines of communication useless."
Infact what the A,O,D, (Authority of Defence) failed to point out, was that no soldier had been inside the Awdech Intel centre and the plans and maps that were given the SGT Trafalgar and his team were not confirmed. Orders were given, loved ones were hugged and will's were written.
The operation was to be a night insertion as no lights were allowed on in Opius as all the power was being used by the central computer, so night vision was also available. SGT Trafalgar’s, S Troop, A squadron, were sent in at 2134 local time. High command brief had informed the soldiers that their task was to fight through opposing forces to the central neural networks room of Awdech Opius. Lay as much tefex (Teflon explosive) as possible and get out. What command had not told them was that the tefex that had been issued was 5 x normal strength, and that once primed it would not only level the base but the whole city surrounding it. S troop had no chance of survival. Traf, as his men called him, led from the front, taking down every Awdech soldier in his way, his men cleaning up behind him. After six hours of fighting, and four of his eight man troop lost to Awdech mined bombers (suicide bombers) they had reached the last lower level of the base. In a short briefing SGT S Trafalgar told his men to return to the top of the base and that he alone would lay the charge that ended this war. His men, although protesting, had to follow orders, and left.
SGT Trafalgar kept Awdech forces at bay for a further four hours until he received comms that his team were in the safe zone. Knowing that he was about to die, SGT Trafalgar, grabbed the satchel containing the tefex primed it and blasted his way through the Awdech central doors, towards the core. As he entered, the Awdech officers opened fire but SGT Trafalgar was too quick and threw the tefex at the core and into one of the intake valve ports of the main coolant reservoir. The following explosion did indeed level the Awdech Opius base as was expected and indeed the city, the blast radius was 21 kilometres, almost everyone died, almost everyone. SGT S Trafalgar of 22nd SRU (Special recon Unit) was rushed to Achilles royal infirmary 43 hours after detonation, after a routine haemoglobin scan was run on the area, the SGT was found in a Teflon/concrete bunker directly underneath the core, it was used to filter the core coolant, he had slipped into it as he threw the charge, and a unique combination of positioning and blast dampening combined to shield him from the blast. Although badly wounded SGT Trafalgar survived. The rest of S Troop were killed in the explosion, which also levelled the safe zone and 2km beyond it.SGT Trafalgar recovered from his injuries and after 6 months in hospital, he received the Confederation Opal star, for his actions, the highest award a soldier can get, only ever awarded posthumously in the past. Hailed as a hero and unable to return to military duties, He returned home to his family.

PERSONAL HISTORY:Stirling was bought up in the state care system, having been abandoned from birth. Bouncing from foster home to foster home he learnt quickly not to value material items, as each time he moved the personal effects he had built up were left behind, realising that the only real possessions he had were the one inside him. Thrown out of school at just turned 15, he immediately started working for Delta Weapons systems, first as a IWI (individual weapon identification) machine operator, then as a tester, at 16 he was skilled in handling of weapons. When a retired infantry colonel came to assess Delta’s new weapon system he remarked at how impressed he was at the young tester’s skills.He spoke privately to Stirling and told him about the army, the opportunities and the benefits, he took little convincing once the ex colonel told him “you wont get a better family than the army son”, this was all Stirling needed to hear.He joined the very next day, and with the recruiting process the way it was at the time, was enlisted by 1800 the following day.The military was the best option for him, determined to get out of the city and the life he had come to hate, he was assigned to the 165th Lancers. Feeling that the army was his only family, he excelled in all things physical entering Special Forces training as the youngest soldier in history. He specialised in demolitions, heavy weapons and methods of entry. Refusing an officer position earned him great respect from the men who served under him, he would train them relentlessly.
His ideal was to make every soldier in his troop as skilled as him.When asked by one of his men “if you train us to your standard Traf, wont we all be as good as you?” SGT Trafalgar’s answer, “only if you have the balls to match the size of your skill base, which you don’t” came the reply along with a smile.
This statement epitomised SGT Trafalgar, as he was known to be fearless in battle and coupled with his skills as a soldier, he was unstoppable.
Moving quickly through the ranks of his assigned regiment, The 165th Lancers, he was spotted very early by Special Forces selectors, and although only 19 at the time, was entered for Special Forces training. Trooper 6/ST/1875 Trafalgar, as he was then, became the youngest ever soldier to complete Special forces training, but to complete the package, he passed with 100% assessment, also with a distinction in heavy weapons. He has completed many tours of duty whilst serving, some are classified still,others are:The war of Damascus of 3073Teahbolds uprising of 3075 (Medal of good conduct) earned. Galack 6 Settlement wars of 3075 (Cross of courage) earned. From this point on 6/ST/1875 Trafalgar’s service record is classified. Since leaving military service Stirling has had many jobs, from hired fist, to Diplomatic observer on Mars over seeing the Creatian reactor inspection.
He met Jillian and married her after five months, their twin daughters Claire and Victoria were born later that year.They all died together, Jill was 29, Claire and Victoria were six months old.
He still suffers from the loss, but time, he hopes, will ease it.Until then, he has work.
